Due west of Fort Collins, Lory State Park offers a wealth of outdoor activities to visitors. Situated beside the Horsetooth Reservoir, spend time fishing, boating, water skiing and doing various other activities. A number of trails wind through the park, which are frequented by hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers in the summer cross-country skiing in the winter.

The Gardens on Spring Creek is a botanical garden that offers a greenhouse, meeting rooms and an ornamental garden with more than 1,000 perennials and 9,000 bulbs. A Children's Garden featuring a wide variety of fruit and vegetables is also available.

Edora Park spans 65-acres and offers an indoor swimming and ice-skating complex. Fort Collins City Park spans 85-acres and offers a variety of recreational facilities including a playground, basketball courts, baseball fields, soccer and football fields, tennis courts and picnic shelters. Paddleboat or swim in the summer and ice skate in the winter.
